Remember when we told you about the eight regional finalists in the 2016 Bombay Sapphire Most Imaginative Bartender Competition?

Last Thursday (June 16th) we got to see them in all their cocktail creating glory when we hit the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) for a live showcase of the art of the Bombay Sapphire cocktail.

Guests sipped delicious Bombay Sapphire cocktails while they watched the inventive mixologists create boozy works of art. The pressure was on as a panel of judges marked the finalists on everything from presentation and timing to inspiration and taste.

While the cocktails definitely looked buzz-worthy, only one could please the palates of the judges enough to take home top honours. That designation went to Chantelle Gabino from Parts & Labour, who impressed the panel with “The Wanderlust,” a neat and tidy creation infused with Lillet Blanc and highlighted by a touch of citric acid and Absinthe rinse.

Gabino will move on to represent Canada at the North American finals, which take place this August at the Bombay Distillery (the Laverstoke Mill) in London, England.

The runner-up was Samuel Trudeau from L’Gros Luxe in Montreal, who created his refreshing “Galileo” signature cocktail for the occasion.
