Alright, before we get all wild, allow me to clarify that everything you’re about to read pertains to Italian restaurants outside of Italy.
With that in mind, 50 Top Italy, a reputable Italian food guide, has ranked the best non-domestic Italian restaurants.
Fire up a “We’re number two!” chant, because Toronto’s Michelin-starred Don Alfonso 1890 is the second-best Italian restaurant in the world.
Liberty Entertainment Group opened the Don Alfonso 1890 Toronto in the city’s financial district last year. It is the fifth Don Alfonso project by world-renowned chefs Alfonso and Ernesto Iaccarino. Both have been awarded Michelin stars for their patronage of Amalfi Coast cuisine. Canada’s 100 Best recognized the restaurant as the country’s 49th-best last year.
Another Canadian enoteca, Cioppino’s Mediterrenean Grill & Enotica in Vancouver, placed 32nd in the ranking. Passerini, in Paris, was awarded the world’s best Italian restaurant.
“It is an honour to be recognized on a global stage. I want to congratulate 3-star Michelin Chef Alfonso Iaccarino and the entire team at Don Alfonso1890 Toronto for receiving such an incredible international honour,” said Nick Di Donato, President and CEO of Liberty Entertainment Group. “We look forward to continuing to provide exceptional dining experiences and keeping Toronto’s culinary scene at the front and center of the global stage.”
Guess you can save yourself a trip to Positano.
