Toronto Fashion Week: Mackage F/W 2014 and After Party

Models floated down a foliaged runway at the Mackage Fall/Winter 2014 show last night. The Montreal-based brand is known for their leather work and outerwear, and though this remains a staple in the assembly, their Fall 2014 collection proved that this is not all they have to offer.

Brilliant outerwear relieved the blasé trendsetters who are drained from conventional, Canadian, winter coverings. From sleek and slim puffers, to luxurious leathers, elegant varsitys and plush parkas, Mackage had much to present to the now enthusiastic crowd. Quilted leather jackets were paired with matching crop tops and kneecapped leggings. Plaid zippered coverings were coupled with coordinating tops and trousers and tulle midi skirts added femininity to an otherwise striking, athletic ensemble.

Though remaining understated, prints were highlighted throughout from camo to tartan; and while black was the principal tone in the collection, subtle pops of fuchsia and damson purple popped from beginning to end.

Fur was unconventionally and extraordinarily displayed in various ensembles; on the trim of a full midi, in the form of a pillbox hat, fashioned into a mini skirt, cuffed atop ankle boots and even fabricated into men’s shorts to add an additional luxurious look to the collection.

Men’s pants were cropped, cuffed, rolled and even pegged and an emphasis on men’s leggings was recognized throughout. Tights were layered under shorts, paired with a matching pullover, distinctively fashioned into puffer pants, and fabricated in leather, wool and fur.

The Canadian Mackage duo Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan have created a highly praised and prestigious brand; it is no wonder why celebrities such as Halle Berry, Eva Mendes, Blake Lively and the Kardashians have worn Mackage for years. Once autumn’s leaves veritably fall, trendsetters and stars will be running out to invest in this impressive collection.

After the show, we hit The Citizen (formerly known as Brant House) for the after party, where Notable.ca was a proud co-host. As expected, the party drew an assortment of impeccably dressed event circuit regulars, entertainment and media figures, models, fashion bloggers and, of course, the Mackage team. Spirits ran high as Grey Goose flowed in the VIP area, especially when Elisa (the female counterpart to the Mackage team) rang in her birthday at midnight. After all, there was much to celebrate for the ever-growing, much beloved Mackage brand.
