These are the Top 100 Employers in Canada for 2018

It takes a little more than an amalgamation of #ilovemyjob Instagram posts to objectively determine who truly has the best work life.

That’s why there’s an entire competition dedicated to highlighting Canada’s best employers. Aptly called ‘Canada’s Top 100 Employersthe project evaluates companies across the country based on 8 diverse factors:

  1. 1. Physical Workplace
  2. 2. Work Atmosphere & Social
  3. 3. Health, Financial & Family Benefits
  4. 4. Vacation & Time Off
  5. 5. Employee Communications
  6. 6. Performance Management
  7. 7. Training & Skills Development
  8. 8. Community Involvement

This year marks organizer Mediacorp Canada Inc.’s 18th annual list, which emphasized companies that are growing with ‘thoughtful innovation’ at their core.

“The best employers recognize that they need to innovate thoughtfully to keep moving forward,” said Richard Yerema, Managing Editor of the ‘Canada’s Top 100 Employers’ project. “But the challenge is to evolve with changes in technology and employee expectations while maintaining the goal of creating better workplaces that align the needs of their business with those of their employees.”

The majority of finalists count among Canada’s biggest employers, including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, universities, tech giants, and natural resource corporations.

While the list’s degree of definitiveness can be debated, Mediacorp certainly made sure no company was overlooked. Editors examined the recruitment histories of over 90,000 employers, inviting approximately 7,500 to submit detailed applications, including a comprehensive review of their operations and HR practices that compares them to others in their industry and region.
