Here’s a trio of the hottest things you can do on the last Tuesday in May.*
Rum & Art
Where: The Real Jerk Restaurant, 842 Gerrard St. E.
You probably know about both of these things. But what you might not know about is the medium of Modern Batik – creating artwork by applying wax and dyes on fabric. Luckily, Toronto-based artist Gabrielle Lasporte is here to show you the way. And that way looks like this. As for the rum component, we’re pretty sure you’ll figure it out.
Where: Sound Academy
Every entrepreneur needs one. This is a two-hour lecture delivered by author and Ph.D. Tom Deans on how you can best set up your way out. Just to be clear: we’re talking business here, not your vague dream of someday taking a catamaran to Tahiti.
Short Film Showcase
Where: The Royal, 608 College St.
Women in Film & Television Toronto is throwing its annual short film showcase, where juried submissions celebrate and promote the local community while helping to continue raising awareness for women in the industry. Celebrating their 30th year, you might say WIFT-T is to feminism what Shailene Woodley is decidedly not.
*Of course, no one would blame you for coming out to heckle this guy.
