Today’s Notable 3some in Toronto: May 21, 2014

Here’s a trio of the hottest things you can do on Hump Day.*

21C
Where: The Royal Conservatory, 273 Bloor St. W.
When: 8:00pm

The Royal Conservatory kicks off a five-day music festival that brings together “today’s most innovative and fearless musicians and composers.” Expect new sounds and fresh ideas from each of the eight concerts including tonight’s performance by pipa virtuoso Wei-wei Lan. Not sure what a pipa is? Don’t worry, they have videos for that.

Jack Astor’s Flair Competition
Where: 144 Front St. W.
When: 5:00pm

Throwing alcohol around is fun. It’s even more fun when you know what you’re doing. Luckily, Jack Astor’s bartenders are trained in the art of flair and they’ll be showing their skills off all night long for a good cause. The competition will see proceeds donated to Imerman Angels – a one-on-one cancer support system that helps connect cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers.

#ENDhatelaws
Where: Gladstone Hotel
When: 8:00pm

The name really sums it up – #ENDhatelaws is a new coalition of activists, journalists, educators, artists, lawyers and students working in partnership with the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and Ryerson University. And they’re throwing a fundraiser tonight to kick off their national movement to fight homophobia and transphobia across the globe. Have a drink and help overcome the hate.

*Of course, no one would blame you for staying in to start learning about androids
