Here’s a trio of the hottest things you can do on Hump Day.*
Kings of Leon
Where: ACC
When: 7:30pm
One of the biggest American bands going right now, Kings of Leon will be stopping by T.O. next week on their Mechanical Bull Tour. While we’re sad to hear there won’t actually be a mechanical bull involved in the show, we’re pretty sure these guys are one of the most energetic live acts you’re going to catch all year. With a catalogue of six solid albums to choose from, Kings of Leon also have something too many current acts lack, namely, some depth. Get on Craigslist now.
Jarvis Church
Where: Hugh’s Room
When: 8:30pm
Remember the 90s? Remember when you listened to The Philosopher Kings and swooned over their frontman Gerald Eaton every time they came on MuchMusic? Of course you do, you’re Canadian. Well, go relive that special feeling tonight at Hugh’s Room as PK’s soulful singer brings his sexy voice to the stage (performing under the stage name Jarvis Church). After all, this guy is the man…
Spanish Cinema
Where: The Royal, 608 College Street
When: 7:00pm
North America’s leading showcase for the best in contemporary Spanish film arrives in Toronto for the first time. Tonight, the festival kicks off with the hilarious looking comedy, A Gun In Each Hand, that focuses on the trials and tribulations men and women suffer just to be with one another. If it were made in Hollywood we’d call it a rom-com, but since it’s coming from Spain we won’t reduce it to that. Check out the trailer here if you don’t believe us.
*Of course, no one would blame you for staying in all night to consider the greatness that is Paul Rudd.
