TIFF is Looking for the World’s Best 60-Second Instagram Videos

Are your Instagram videos among your most popular, like-worthy social media material?

If so, you’ll be happy to know that TIFF has teamed up with Instagram to bring you the TIFFXInstagram Shorts Festival – and anyone can enter.

The new digital shorts competition asks aspiring and established filmmakers from around the globe to share their original, 60-second videos.

Videos are becoming increasingly popular on Instagram, especially since they can now play for up to 60 seconds as opposed to the original 15-second limit.

If you think you have the next award-winning video, submissions are now open until July 20.

TIFF programmers will select 30 finalists to be showcased on TIFF’s website and Instagram channel from August 8-17. A six-person jury of industry professionals and influential Instagram community members will select one winner for the Judge’s Choice Award. Jury members include Directors Ava DuVernay and Xavier Dolan, music video director Nabil Elderkin, and stop-motion animation artist Rachel Ryle.

There will also be a fan favourite award for the film with the most ‘likes’ on Instagram.

The winners will be announced on August 18.

You can upload your submission here.
