Three Marathons We Can’t Wait to Run

After Meb Keflezighi became the first American man to win the Boston marathon since 1983, we couldn’t help but think about the strong symbolism behind that particular victory in the wake of last year’s tragic bombings. It was enough to ignite the competitive fire within and start a bit of marathon training of our own (see: searching top marathon locations around the world on Google). If we could run 42k anywhere, here’s where we’d choose:

Napa Valley
We’d go here for the scenery alone. And though we haven’t consulted a medical professional, it’s hard to imagine a better post-run celebration than the perfect glass of local wine. This all sounds way too tranquil than it should. Maybe we’re not yet ready to commit to a full marathon after all…

Vancouver, BC
Gotta give some love to what is definitely Canada’s top trek, spanning some of the city’s most notable picturesque sites and stretching along the beloved Seawall. You’ll love that almost three quarters of the race winds along the shoreline for a uniquely coastal feel. An added bonus: we’ve obviously got you covered for the city’s top hotels, restaurants and nightlife hot spots post-run.

Athens, Greece
Where it all started… literally in Marathon. This challenging endeavour finishes in the Greek capital, taking you along a string of historical sites, and also happens to follow the same course as the 2004 Summer Olympics marathon. If that’s not enough to get you pumped, the race closes at the Panathenaic Stadium, site of the first modern Olympics in 1896.
