Thousands of People are Playing Hide and Seek at IKEA…And IKEA is Not Pleased

Considering how many people get lost at IKEA for hours, not even on purpose, it makes complete sense that some would consider it the ideal venue for a game of hide-and-seek.

And by some, we mean the 32,000 people who signed up for Facebook event in the Dutch city of Eindhoven. Another 19,000 signed up for IKEA hide-and-seek in Amsterdam, while 12,000 pledged to participate in Utrecht.

Best. Idea. Ever.

Except that, you know, IKEA wasn’t really cool with it.

As IKEA Group spokeswoman Martina Smedberg points out, “We need to make sure people are safe in our stores and that’s hard to do if we don’t even know where they are.”

Which is exactly why it would have been so amazing.

It’s too bad Target isn’t around anymore…
