This Week in Toronto Music: September 2 to 7, 2014

Toronto’s music scene can be pretty hectic.

In fact, often the only thing busier than the venues in this city is you. And since we know that a young professional (YP) lifestyle needs a good beat to back it up, we’re going to round up the best shows happening over the next seven days.

Every. Single. Week.

You don’t have to waste any more of your time searching for the next best concert – ‘cause every Monday (or Tuesday after Labour Day), you’ll find it right here.

DWAYNE GRETZKY | PEPSI POP UP | WEDNESDAY 7PM
Our favourite cover band is back again, this time playing the Pepsi Pop Up at 229 Richmond St. Best of all, it’s free.

BORN RUFFIANS | PEPSI POP UP | THURSDAY 7PM
This Pepsi Pop Up is proving to make it a good week for music. Hollerado joins Born Ruffians on Thursday – so if you’re not at TIFF’s opening night, this is where you should be.

USS | PEPSI POP UP | FRIDAY 7PM
The alternative dance music duo takes over the Pepsi Pop Up Friday evening.

RIOT FEST | DOWNSVIEW PARK | SATURDAY & SUNDAY 2PM
The final music festival you should bother with this summer has arrived. Catch The Flaming Lips, The Cure, Death From Above 1979, and Brand New on Saturday. Sunday brings out The National, City and Colour, Death Cab For Cutie, Metric and more.

JOSEPH ARTHER | DRAKE HOTEL | SATURDAY 8PM
The Ohio singer songwriter brings his tunes to the Drake Hotel on Saturday – expect to hear some Lou Reed covers in anticipation of his new cover album.
