This Week in Toronto Music: August 18 to 25, 2014

By Lisa Lagace

Toronto’s music scene can be pretty hectic.

In fact, often the only thing busier than the venues in this city is you. And since we know that a young professional (YP) lifestyle needs a good beat to back it up, we’re going to round up the best shows happening over the next seven days.

Every. Single. Week.

You don’t have to waste any more of your time searching for the next best concert – ‘cause every Monday you’ll find it right here.

JIM CUDDY / HORSESHOE TAVERN / MONDAY 8PM

The Blue Rodeo legend joins his sons Devin and Sam Cuddy, who have both been making a name for themselves in the Toronto music scene, tonight. Definitely a family affair worth leaving your house on a Monday night for.

CHRISTOPHER CROSS / CNE BANDSHELL / TUESDAY 8:15PM

The 80s make a comeback at the CNE on Tuesday with this Grammy and Oscar winner hitting the Bandshell stage.

ZAC BROWN BAND / MOLSON AMPHITHEATRE / THURSDAY + FRIDAY 6PM

Get your country music fix this Thursday and Friday at the Amphitheatre as these Georgia boys play their tunes for a two-night stand.

JULIE DOIRON / HORSESHOE TAVERN / THURSDAY 8PM

The talented songstress brings her gorgeous tunes to the Horseshoe Thursday night – you should definitely be there.

DWAYNE GRETZKY & PLATINUM BLONDE / CNE BANDSHELL / FRIDAY 7PM

While you might want to go to this for the kitschy 80s comeback that is Platinum Blonde, we recommend going because Dwayne Gretzky is the greatest cover band we’ve ever witnessed.

THE ORCHESTRA / CNE BANDSHELL / SUNDAY 7PM

If you were ever a fan of the Electric Light Orchestra, you will want to be here for this quasi reunion.

30 SECONDS TO MARS / AIR CANADA CENTRE / SUNDAY 6:30PM

While they are joined by both AFI and Linkin Park, don’t let that stop you from a chance to stare at Jared Leto for two hours.
