This Week in Toronto Music: August 11 to 18, 2014

By Lisa Lagace

Toronto’s music scene can be pretty hectic.

In fact, often the only thing busier than the venues in this city is you. And since we know that a young professional (YP) lifestyle needs a good beat to back it up, we’re going to round up the best shows happening over the next seven days.

Every. Single. Week.

You don’t have to waste any more of your time searching for the next best concert – ‘cause every Monday you’ll find it right here.

PROPAGHANDI / LEE’S PALACE / MONDAY 8PM
The iconic Canadian punk band from Manitoba returns to Lee’s for their two-night stand in Toronto.

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN / DANFORTH MUSIC HALL/ TUESDAY 7PM
The legendary Liverpool indie rockers hit the Danforth on Tuesday night in support of their 12th studio album, Meteorites.

ALVVAYS / HORSESHOE TAVERN / WEDNESDAY 8:30PM
While their Thursday evening show is sold out, you can still catch them Wednesday night if you don’t hesitate. This Toronto band is quickly and steadily making waves across the country.

MAD DECENT BLOCK PARTY / FORT YORK / FRIDAY 1PM
The annual festival returns to Fort York with Chance the Rapper, Diplo, Flosstradamus, Grand Theft, Zeds Dead and Keys & Krates.

BLUE RODEO / MOLSON AMPHITHEATRE / FRIDAY 7PM
The Canadian country rock legends return to the Amphitheatre for their annual three-hour summer show on Friday night.

EDGEFEST 3 / ECHO BEACH / SATURDAY 5PM
The third and final edition of Edgefest’s summer concert series comes to an end on Sunday at Echo Beach with 90s throwbacks Our Lady Peace, Sloan, I Mother Earth and Eve 6 bringing on a big case of nostalgia from our MuchMusic video watching childhood.

BRANDY & BLACKSTREET / SONY CENTRE / SATURDAY 7PM
If you’d rather see some 90s R&B hits instead of the 90s CanRock happening at Echo Beach, you need to be at Sony Centre for Brandy and Blackstreet on Saturday. No Diggity.
