This Tumblr Page Posts the Last Messages People Ever Had With Their Exes and Loved Ones

There’s an irony in how often goodbye is never the last word between two people – especially two people who used to love each other.

It’s too nice; it’s too, well, good. And so many of us are not.

We’re too hurt and busy and insecure and broken to manage the kind of farewell someone in a Jane Austen might pull off (though they never actually got laid so what did they know).

Well, thanks to the Tumblr blog The Last Message Received, you can now see the anonymous “submissions of the last messages people received from ex-friends or ex-significant others, as well as from deceased friends, significant others, and relatives.”

So grab a box of Kleenex and your head full of old memories and get ready to get lost for the next few hours.

Not only do we get tot see the last messages between old lovers and friends, but some submissions go on to include details surrounding the event:

Like we said, just leave your heart on the floor over there, it won’t be able to do much for a while.

It’s not all heartache due to unrequited love, though; some of the most devastating conversations are the last ones between friends and siblings before one dies:

If anything, hopefully The Last Message Received will help you to consider how you choose your words when you’re leaving or already left.

“He told me he still loved me a few days before this. We had been best friends for 4 years and also in love with each other. Then he pulled a 180 on me and acted like a complete stranger. I haven’t heard from him since.”

My best friend and I got in an argument.

This one is all too familiar.

And we’re done.
