This Photographer’s Wedding Shots Are Like Nothing You’ve Ever ‘Seen’ Before

Thanks to the skills of a self-taught photographer, beauty is now literally in the eye of the beholder.

Australia-based photographer Peter Adams-Shawn’s wedding shots are far from typical. He is slowly gaining notoriety by actually capturing the reflections in the eyes of wedding guests.

While playing around with reflections back in 2011, Adams-Shawn captured his first “eyescape” of a flower girl watching the bride have her hair done. It has since become his signature technique.

Now, Adams-Shawn’s stunning shots capture the moment through the lens of the wedding’s key players, whether this means a bride looking at her dress, or a mother looking at her daughter in her freshly buttoned dress, a groom seeing his bride for the first time, or a guest watching the exchange of vows.

He can even capture the reflection of the newlyweds in their rings.

Adams-Shawn’s work is so unbelievable that a small percentage of professional photographers mentioned in forums that they believed he was using photoshop. At first glance, I did too. The head International Loupe Awards judge even apologized to Adams for thinking it was a composite.

Believe it or not, all of his photographs are 100 per cent real and not composites.

While the draw to his images is their uniqueness, I have a feeling that the more famous Adams-Shawn becomes, the more copycats there will be. But, if I were a photographer, I’d be trying it out for myself too.

Adams-Shawn doesn’t seem to mind, and even shares his tips here.

For his next step, he will apparently master the reflective capabilities of the  bubble (likely putting himself in high demand in the child birthday department in the process).
