To kick off a freakishly good October, interactive theatre brings to life all things spooktacular – just in time for Halloween, obviously – with a production that will have you hunting (literally) down the next scene

Starting next week, the folks behind Vancouver’s award-winning The Virtual Stage are bringing their newest production, On Death’s Door: Plague of the Zombie Syndrome to a top-secret location in town and we’ve got the scoop on exactly why this show needs to be on your radar.

First off, it’s definitely not your regular sit down and relax-type of show. You’ll have to work to be entertained as part of this all-new immersive and harrowing theatrical presentation running from October 7th to November 2nd.

The On Death’s Door: Plague of the Zombie Syndrome is the third installment in the company’s smash-hit Zombie Syndrome series that began a few years ago with teams of audience members working together to follow an apocalyptic storyline to save the world from the undead in downtown Vancouver and on Granville Island.

Last year, winning teams managed to capture a renegade Sergeant and find a cure for the deadly virus, but not before learning that the Centre for Disease Control discovered the Zombie Syndrome virus had been laced with “Death’s Door” – a highly potent street drug.

Still with us? Good.

This year, audience members will be tasked with a new mission: save the human race by taking down the criminal network behind Death’s Door to stop the pandemic in time…

No big deal.

In this brand new interactive, smartphone-enabled, and clue-breaking adventure, the audience will be contacted with instructions leading them to a top-secret rendezvous point where they’ll be assigned roles as a team of specialists and get started on a high-stakes adventure race. If you go, wear good walking shoes, ‘cause this scavenger hunt knows no limits and will see you travelling from site-to-site in search of clues as you race against the clock.
