This Absolutely Stunning 18th Century French Château is Officially For Sale

It’s one thing to be able to proudly say you’re a homeowner — especially in Canada these days.

But could you imagine being able to tell your friends that you’ve just signed the paperwork and purchased your own 18th-century French château? Now that’s a Facebook status that’s going to get a lot of likes.

World renowned interior designer Timothy Corrigan has just put his palatial French château on the market and you could become its new rightful owner. That is if you have $11.4 million ($14.9 CAD) just sitting in the bank, of course.

The majestic home is called the Château du Grand-Lucé and is nestled in France’s Loire Valley. The 40,000-square-foot house sits on a 74-acre property with expansive grounds, formal manicured gardens, its very own forest, and a private lake. And all just an hour train ride from Paris.

Twelve years ago Corrigan bought the 1764 neoclassical manor and commenced a $10 million top-to-bottom overhaul, which brought modern systems and livability to the 15-bedroom, 17-bathroom estate while still meeting all French preservation requirements. The requirements ensured that Corrigan conserved all period details and decorated the place with the appropriate antiques, furniture, and artwork — all of which come with the sale.

With 29 rooms, there’s so much room for activities. The manor comes equipped with two wine cellars, 24 stone fireplaces, two greenhouses, a theatre, private swimming pool, six garages, a helicopter pad, three large staff apartments — because if you live in a place this huge you’re going to want staff — and finally, seven statues that were given to the home’s first owner by Louis XV.

Of course, if you’re feeling something more California-modern, we suppose you could always ‘settle’ for NBA MVP Stephen Curry’s swanky pad that’s also currently on the market for a quarter of the price.
