Finally, an instance when pointing like a madman won’t make you feel like the World’s Most Obnoxious Tourist abroad.
IconSpeak is a company that specializes in the “ultimate functional wear for the modern traveller,” and their signature shirt may just be the most beneficial thing you’ll pack on your next trip.
The shirt contains 40 icons that pretty span the entire lexicon of human communication, allowing its beholder to point to whatever inquiry they may have. Icons range from “where’s the wifi?” to “where can I find a sit-down toilet?”
It even allows you to ask someone in any language where the nearest vantage point is for the moon and stars.
The concept is the work of three Swiss gentlemen who were inspired at a dead end in Vietnam when their motorcycle broke down.
“Many times we were confronted with a language barrier that was only to be overcome by drawing signs, symbols or icons on a piece of paper, map, or into the dirt,” explain George, Steven, and Florian. “We thought it would be great to have an essential set of icons with you, permanently, so that you could just point on whatever you need – and people would understand.
We can’t wait to wear it on our next trip to Montreal (kidding!).
