This 1,400-Year-Old Tree Has the Most Beautiful Foliage in the World

If 2014 was the year of the selfie on Instagram, 2015 is the year of fallen leaves. Indeed, not homepage refresh went by without a heavy dose of #foliageporn.

While we’re certainly blessed to live in one of the world’s most exciting countries when it comes to leaves in autumn, Canada unfortunately does possess any ginkgo trees. This is a real shame because, well, look at this thing:

Tree

That’s what it looks like when a 1,400-year-old ginkgo tree sheds its summer coat. Every autumn these trees, which are highly endangered and only exist in two small areas in China, spill an ocean of gold onto the ground below as their leaves dispatch almost all at once.

Not much else to say, really, except look at how damn spectacular this is. Nature’s just the best.
