These Are the 5 Biggest Complaints GO Transit Riders Have

You’re always putting yourself at risk of encountering someone who doesn’t have a clue about transit etiquette when you step on the GO.

From people consciously staring into your soul to talking obnoxiously loud on the phone, there’s a lot that can make your commute really unmemorable, if not unbearable.

With a hope of improving the commute for Toronto riders, GO Transit conducted an online survey of more than 1,000 riders last fall to determine what irks them the most. This was followed by an etiquette plan aimed at remedying these complaints.

The study revealed that these were the five biggest complaints of GO Transit riders:

1. Feet on the seats (67%)
2. Talking loudly (60%)
3. Littering (56%)
4. Occupying seats with bags (54%)
5. Loud conversations, blocking doors, and crowding on platforms (54%)

Other complaints that didn’t make the top five included commuters that eat smelly foods or drench themselves in too much perfume or cologne.

The campaign officially gets underway this week and will include posters on GO Transit’s fleet of vehicles. The hashtag #etiquettefail was also launched, so you know where to go if you want to read some hilarious rider horror stories.
