These Are the Best Dance Parties in Toronto

Get on your dancing shoes. There’s one thing on your mind.

And every young professional in the city needs a place to go to let their groove loose. At the end of a long week, there’s nothing better than letting your hair down and ripping it on the dance floor.

While Toronto is nearly overcome with great bars and even better dance parties, here are 8 of our absolute favourites…

The Big Sound
If you prefer to dance your heart out to a live band like we do, this night of live Motown and big band music replicated to perfection is easily the most fun you can have dancing the night away. Their parties don’t happen all the time, so it’s important not to miss it when they do come around.

Muscle & Heat is for Lovers
This roaming dance party is all about soul music and creative venues. Having packed the house at bars like UNIT, Bambi’s, and Unlovable, their party can truly go anywhere. Even your neighbourhood pizza joint. Yup, they’ve set up shop at Amico’s – who knows where else they might end up.

Chronologic at The Garrison
Going strong since 2005, this historic dance party takes you through every decade of music starting all the way back in 1890 and finishing the night in the present year. It’s an epic dance party that will leave you in awe of the vast array of music that has been made popular over the past 120+ years.

Boots & Burbon
If you’re the type that prefers country music, your options in Toronto are slimmer than they would be for any other genre of music, but their Thursday night party is really all you need to get your fix anyway. Line dancing and a mechanical bull – need we say more?

Loving In The Name Of
We love this party because it gives us the best of both worlds – a DJ playing our favourite tunes, and a live band covering our favourite tracks. It’s not unexpected to see a Canadian musician you grew up loving suddenly taking the stage to cover Taylor Swift.

The Steady
The Steady’s restaurant is definitely a place to eat at during the day, but when the sun goes down, you go here to dance. There is always a new dance party happening – check the schedule to keep up with it all.

Clinton’s
With dance parties happening in their back room more than once a week, there’s always an option for a good night of getting your grove on if you’re in the Christie Pitts neighbourhood. We particularly love their Throwback Thursday nights.

Shindig at The Piston
The city’s only all vinyl dance party gives you all the retro you could ever need, spinning 50s and 60s rockabilly, R&B, rock n roll, Motown. This is about as authentic a throwback as Toronto provides.
