These are the best cities in the world to have a dog

There are countless city rankings specific to your lifestyle – as a student, as a cyclist, as someone who likes to enjoy their spring. Now, there’s one for dog owners.

The insurance company Coya recently evaluated 50 cities around the world to figure out which one is best for good boys (and girls).

The survey used 10 metrics to determine where in the world is most ideal for both dog owners and their pets. From dog-friendly hotels and restaurants to the cost of fines for not picking up poop.

The best city in the world for dogs is San Francisco. The NorCal city is the only one to receive a perfect score, and is followed by near-perfect Seattle up the coast. Tel Aviv rounds out the top three.

Toronto is Canada’s highest-ranked city (9th). It scores particularly high for its number of pet stores and dog parks. On the downside, Toronto has among the fewest dogs per capita, meaning it can be a lonely place for canines. It also scores poorly in the number of dog-friendly restaurants.
