There’s An App to Clean and Repair Your Home

Who wants to be inside cleaning and fixing up the home now that the warm weather’s finally here?

Not us.

But we don’t want to live in our own filth until the leaves start to change colour either….

Enter Handybook. Think of it as the Uber for home services, essentially a one-stop shop for everything you need done around the home. After success South of the Border, the company just launched in Canada.

What is it?

Handybook is an on-demand home improvement and cleaning service that provides trusted, fully vetted professionals for common household services. This means everything from handyman work (from furniture assembly and TV mounting to painting) to plumbing, cleaning and electrical. All bookings can be made online or via a tap of Handybook’s app in three steps. You select your desired service, confirm the time of service, and enter your email address. Done.

Why do you need it?

If you can name a young professional (YP) who doesn’t need an extra five hours in the day, they’ll give you $100. Ok, they won’t. But seriously, who has time for chores these days the way we once did? With that smartphone that’s perpetually glued to your hand, you can book a professional in less than 60 seconds. Its ease of use saves us busy YPs time wasted looking through Yelp reviews, Google searches, or inquiries to friends for referrals. Since all bookings are made by appointment, there are no annoying four-hour-window wait times (how is that still normal?)

What you will get.

There will be no sketchy handymen showing up at your door. Handybook’s application process includes an online reference check, phone interview, reference check by phone and email, in-person interview, and a thorough background check. Apparently only three per cent of applicants get through.

Everyone else is doing it.

Handybook has experienced rapid growth to date in the States and expects similar success in Canadian cities as well. Since acquiring exec in January, the company has experienced 60% month over month growth in 2014 and expanded to 13 cities this spring.

You can try it for yourself.

Use Notable’s exclusive code, “NOTABLE1HR, to get one free hour of cleaning or handyman service.

The service is currently available in Toronto and Vancouver but is looking to expand in the upcoming months.
