The Wolf of King Street: Inside a $7.9M Penthouse in Toronto

This post is brought to you by TOWER TRIP Magazine. Story and pictures by Toronto  correspondent Matt Vardy.
It all started with a short walk to Bar Buca on Portland Street.

My meeting with “The Wolf of King Street”, Mariana Iordanova of PSR Brokerage, was off to an eclectic start. “The atmosphere is so great here” she continued, “you can share a table with a total stranger; it’s great for business and so refreshing. And you gotta eat here. It’s so good”. I have to agree the shop had great vibes, the coffee was fantastic and it was conveniently located next door to her office and just around the corner from our destination–the penthouse at 500 Wellington Street.

The 500 Wellington Penthouse is approx. 6200 sq. ft. and encompasses the entire top floor of the boutique building, offering unbeatable wraparound views of the Toronto city skyline from a westside vantage point. Two private elevators travel to the unit giving the owner multiple access points and options.

A few pieces of furniture and random fashion-inspired artworks (such as a mannequin sitting on the kitchen counter) were among the surprises found inside the apartment. Mariana was quick to give the mannequin “bunny ears” and it was immediately clear to me that Mariana was no ordinary sales representative.

She doesn’t take herself too seriously and has an outgoing personality that is bright and full of energy. But don’t take her too lightly, because Mariana means business. She is fluent in Italian, Serbo-Croatian, and Bulgarian and prior to switching her career to real estate, Mariana worked for one of Canada’s largest banks as Manager of Business Banking, managing a range of high net worth portfolios. She has a loyal flock of clients due to her fierce drive and flair for negotiation. Even with its poker face, this mannequin wouldn’t stand a chance.

This full-floor penthouse includes three bedrooms, floor to ceiling windows, doublethick marble countertops, and gourmet appliances throughout made by Sub Zero Pro, Viking, and Gaggenau.

Mariana, with Buca coffee in hand, offered me a Peroni and our tour of this exclusive residence went from great to absolutely awesome.

Directly off the gourmet kitchen is the living room with a wood burning fireplace and marble feature wall. Past one of two elevator lobbies and down the hall you’ll find the huge master bedroom with floor to ceiling windows and walkout patio on the northeast corner of the building.

Thanks to the unique trend of low to midrise buildings being constructed in the fashion district area, at just 10 floors up you can enjoy an amazing, unobstructed, panoramic view of downtown Toronto and the harbourfront.

Directly off the master bedroom is a custom marble ensuite washroom, of course, with a soaker tub, his and hers designer sinks, and marble standup shower with rectangular rain shower head.

Without question, the most unique and spectacular feature of this property is the 2000 sq.ft. private terrace on the south side with raised glass pool, hot tub, and outdoor kitchen. Can you imagine how amazing this would look in summer months, with friends and family gathered around, the city sounds and lights glowing at your feet. It would be truly breathtaking; indeed even with the pool drained for winter maintenance I was still taken by the beauty of this scene. The penthouse at 500 Wellington offers the ultimate fashion district condo lifestyle experience second to none.

Special thanks to Mariana Iordanova of PSR Brokerage. Feel free to contact her for additional information about this amazing property. But be advised, she’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing…
