With wedding season in full swing, a lot of blushing brides and grooms are starting to plan their big day for next year or the year after. Montreal’s diverse venues mean there are plenty of options for that special day, night or even weekend. To help you out, we spoke to wedding planner extraordinaire Tania Tassone from Blanc Events to get her feedback on the where and why. Get your pen and paper ready.
1. St-James Theatre
The only venue in Montreal where you feel like you are in Europe.
2. Entrepots Dominion
Cozy and intimate, especially in the winter. Makes for a killer party and you can use the courtyard in the middle of the buildings for a New York-style ceremony or cocktail.
3. Parisian Laundry
A very unique space with a real New York gallery vibe in a trendy neighbourhood. You can create your own gallery or do awesome projections on the wall. The notable part? There is an ultra cool “dungeon” located in the basement for a great after party.
4. Hyatt Regency Hotel
A hidden rooftop terrace and permanent tent is up during summer months that can fit up to 400 people. It also houses one of the best hidden terraces in Montreal.
All glass and very industrial with high ceilings and a huge patio located on the waterfront of Old Montreal.
6. Montreal Science Centre
Always a big favourite for weddings. Great for out-of-towners who are getting married in Montreal as the backdrop is Montreal’s gorgeous skyline. Great terraces connect to each room, making it a very flexible space.
7. BEATRICE Tent
Amazing food located in an intimate part-indoor, part-outdoor chic environment in the heart of downtown.
8. Auberge St-Gabriel
Deck it out with candles and it become a mysterious, romantic and cozy brick-clad space… did we mention there is an attic that can be used?
9. Nelligan Hotel
Access to rooftop patio for cocktails, cool boutique vibe and gorgeous views of Old Montreal. Perfect for trendy young professional couples.
If you want opulence at its finest, this is it. Pricey indeed, but you can’t put a price on this historical venue.
11. Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
La Verriere; exclusive, modern and unique, especially when there is a special exhibit. Get artsy.
12. Arsenal Art Gallery
Very avant-garde with a huge layout, giving you the potential to be very creative… with the right budget, of course.
13. Château Ramezay
This is a really gorgeous, elegant space for small weddings. The terrace offers a beautiful marquee and a balcony that adds charm to the garden.
14. Theatre Paradoxe
For the more daring couples, this is a new church-converted-to-event space on Monk Blvd that will truly make your event different.
15. McGill Faculty Club
An air of elegance surrounds you the moment you arrive here. Ideally located on McTavish Street, in the heart of Montreal, this extraordinary Club offers a unique level of excellence accommodating up to 250.
16. Parc Jean Drapeau
There are a few extremely notable spaces here to host your wedding, including La Toundra, a versatile hall, with its mezzanine and terrace offering a nice view of downtown Montreal; The Pavillon de la Jamaique, located in the Floralies Gardens, with an array of large windows that allow you to see the abundant vegetation and surrounding canals; The Chalet de la Plage, offering views of the Beach at Parc Jean-Drapeau and magical night-time lighting provided by the Casino de Montreal; and Tour de Levis, a 1930-built tower with an observation deck that affords a 360° view of Montreal.
17. Cote Nord Tremblant
Yes, it’s a short drive outside of the city, but this unique setting can offer you and your guests a weekend of bonding and the perfect setting for everyone to stay and play at the same gorgeous place.
