The Stable House Opens Doors on South Granville

Find a sweet neighbourhood reprieve after a long day of holiday shopping along South Granville at The Stable House Bistro (1520 West 13th Avenue), which has recently opened the doors to a new 40-seat space (the name pays homage to rows of stable houses that used to dot the neighbourhood back in the day).

Designed by the folks at Evoke International Design Inc., look for plenty of clean lines, ample natural light and simple décor features throughout. Anchoring the room is a large curved bar (made with reclaimed wood) that invites guests to tuck in for a tasty snack and leisurely sip. Daily dinner service starts at 5pm with weekend lunch coming soon.

Their menu is well stocked with European-influenced share plates and more. Grab a charcuterie board created by local Union Wood Co. complete with all the fixings, nosh on daily baked pastry tarts (made in-house) and choose from vegetarian, seafood, poultry or meat. Better yet, dine as a group and go family style, where they’ll bring out a platter of pretty much everything on the menu.

In addition to cheese (Benton Brother’s), cured meats (Oyama) and tasty tarts, The Stable House also features a constantly changing blackboard of daily features including terrines, soups, pates, salads and other savoury items.

Keep it casual and saddle up to one of the 12 seats at the bar to enjoy a craft cocktail, Driftwood brew or glass of wine (list created by Matt Sherlock).
