The RCMP Want You to Name 10 of Their Dogs

Ten German shepherd puppies have been born at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta.

And just as important as their national police force careers are their names. That’s where you – or, rather, your under-16 brother, nephew or cousin – come in.

That’s right, the police is asking for names.

But like the bureaucratic nature of police forces themselves, they’ve decided to tack on a host of restrictions for the name search:

– One entry per person.
– The name can be for a male or a female pup.
– It must start with the letter H.
– It must have no more than nine letters.
– It must be one or two syllables.
– Contestants must live in Canada and be 16 years old or younger.

Names can be submitted online here or, if you prefer to keep it old school, can be mailed in to the following address (by March 3):

Attn: “Name the Puppy Contest”
Police Dog Service Training Centre
Box 6120
