The New Tallest Building in the World Will Be Nearly TWICE as Tall as the CN Tower

The next world’s tallest building will be so tall that measuring it by metres and feet will be unnecessary. Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower, which is expected to be completed by 2020, will reach a height of one kilometre.

That is insane.

The country just secured funding for the $1.2 billion USD project, which will be almost 180 metres taller than the world’s current record-holder, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. It will be almost double the height of the CN tower.

“With this deal, we will reach new, as yet unheard of highs in real estate development, and will fulfill the company’s objective of creating a world-class urban centre that offers an advanced lifestyle, so that Jeddah may have a new iconic landmark that attracts people from all walks of society with comprehensive services and a multitude of uses,” said Mounib Hammoud, Chief Executive Officer of Jeddah Economic Company, the developer behind the project.

Twenty-six of the building’s 200 floors have already been completed. It will feature a luxury hotel, office space, apartments, luxury condominiums, an observatory, and 59 elevators by the time it’s finished.
