The Most Scenic Winter Spots in Toronto

We can’t be sure who exactly was silly enough to stop here a few hundred years ago on a late November morning and think, ‘Well, this looks like a cozy place to stay’.

But our bet is that they happened to be looking at one of these six places (yes, even if they didn’t exist then) in the city that somehow manage to make winter even more gorgeous than our warmer months.

Remember how beautiful the ice storm was last year?

Yeah, us too.

Sometimes you just have to find the good in the not-so-good…

HIGH PARK
During a snowfall, the park is white and alive with families enjoying the colder months. Known for its winter wonderland appeal, this is the place to visit if you want to pack all your winter activities into one day.

HUMBER ARBORETUM
This location is all about outdoor fun, and it’s a beautiful place to stop when the snow is falling and you just want to be outside and take in winter for all it has to offer. Instagram can’t handle this.

CITY HALL
While City Hall definitely isn’t scenic in the natural sense of the word, during Christmas – and the rest of our cold months, too – it’s the definition of a lively winter scene in the city. Seeing the tree all lit up and the happy people skating in the square will make you hate winter that much less.

THE ISLAND
Everyone knows the Island is a perfect escape during the warm summer months, but one of Toronto’s best-kept secrets is how incredible it is during the winter months. The natural beauty of the Island is never more remarkable than when it’s covered in a light layer of clean white snow – and you’ll probably have the Island to yourself to skate, hike, take photos, and throw snowballs.

CN TOWER
While most die-hard Torontonians have either already been to the tower or refuse to go to the top, if you’ve never been to the top on a freshly white snow day, it’s a great way to see the city with the beauty of the frozen lake surrounding it.

DISTILLERY DISTRICT
As much as we all love the Distillery any time of year, there’s truly nothing like going shopping for a Christmas present here during a snowfall. It might be the one section of the city that actually looks even better frozen over.
