The Most Notable Sandwiches in Montreal

There is nothing like the perfect sandwich to satisfy your lunchtime hunger pains, especially in the midst of an intense workday. Depending on where you work in the city, there are some great go-to sandwich spots. Keeping in mind the various work hubs, we have tracked down the best in the city to help steer you in the right direction.

Olive & Gourmando
Located amidst the financial district of Old Montreal, and known to be the hottest Cafe in Old Montreal amongst locals and tourists alike, Olive & Gourmando is always busy and, unless you are happy to take your order out, be prepared to wait for a seat. Their sandwiches are next level notable; no matter what you choose you will be happy. They bake their bread in-house, and all their ingredients are as fresh as can be. Our favourites are their ‘Poached Egg on Your Face’ (poached egg, speck, cheese sandwich) and their Cajun chicken. Top it off with a bite of one of their succulent pastries for dessert.

Titanic
Also located in the Old Montreal financial district, Titanic is only a block from Olive & Gourmand and gives the hot corner Cafe a good run for its money when it comes to sandwiches. Also busy for lunch, people flock here specifically for their famous rare roast beef sandwich with horseradish in addition to their Roma sausage with peperonata sandwich. They have some great soups here as well.

Ta Pies
Located on Parc in Outrement, Ta was started in 2009 by New Zealand-born chef Don Hudson. He uses his 5-star training, combined with traditional recipes and local produce, to create some of the best food in the city. He is known for his meat pies, which are his version of the sandwich. You can choose anything from his chicken, bacon and mushroom pie to his classic beef and cheese (he even serves up Indian inspired pies, like his curried vegetable and sweet potato).

Vasco Da Gama
If you work in the Golden Square Mile or business district of downtown, this is a must-stop for a sandwich during your lunch hour. Notable for their authentic Portuguese lunch fare, feast on a lamb confit panini with caramelized onions (served toasted, of course) or even their duck and fig confit sandwich. Their burgers are pretty awesome and notable, too.
