The Business of Weed – August 10th, 2018

This week in the world of weed…

The Business of Weed is a weekly series brought to you by Jay Rosenthal, the Co-founder and President of Business of Cannabis, to keep you up to date on all weed-related news. Here are this week’s biggest headlines.

Buck-A-Beer, But No Pot

Ontario Premier Doug Ford delivered on the buck-a-beer promise this week, but it looks like Ontario may not have ordered any pot for October legalization. According to Global News, as other Provinces make known the quantities of cannabis they have secured and the companies they have ordered from, Ontario has been strangely silent…which isn’t really Doug Ford’s MO.

Making it Funnier
For those that have ever consumed cannabis, you know that it has a way of making things (a lot) funnier. Well, what better way to bring laughs and cannabis together than to have a 4:20-friendly comedy club. That’s just what Underground Comedy & Social Club is in Toronto – as well as a few other comedy clubs around Canada. One note: it’s BYOP.

Millennials Heart Edibles
In a recent survey of 3,000 millennials, over half suggested they were interested in cannabis-based edibles. But the millennials in Canada are going to have to wait at least a year. That’s because Health Canada has determined that legalization will initially only apply to dry flower – which are those green buds you know so well. Edibles, drinks and gummies (the stuff millennials want) will be one year behind.

That’s it for this week. Make sure to check back every Friday for all of your cannabis-related updates.
