The Best Books and Podcasts to Keep You Motivated All Year Long

As we settle into the new year, it’s high time for many of us to focus on motivation and inspiration for the 12 months ahead. But like many things, motivation is fleeting and the burst that we get in January slowly starts to fizzle out. This is when the real hard work comes into play. However, having a toolkit of resources to turn to in order to help you bring back that spark of dedication can prove to be incredibly valuable.

Below we break down 5 of our favourite podcasts and 5 of our favourite books to help you stay on track throughout 2022, no matter what your goals are.

Top Motivational Books:

Atomic Habits

This was the first book I read in 2021 and I could not recommend it enough to be your first read in 2022. Written by James Clear, this book gives you the tangible action items to help you develop better habits during your day-to-day life (that actually stick around). I will be the first to vouch that the information and tactics provided in this book do truly work if you want to create a better life for yourself.

Burnout

We wish this book never had to end. The book is truly for anyone but it places a focus on specifically women when it comes to stress. At the end of the day, stress can be pretty unavoidable, and gaining the knowledge and expertise to understand how to let your body release it is key to living a healthy, motivated, and joyous life. So for 2022, we’re gifting you the ability to complete the stress cycle with this incredible read.

Can’t Hurt Me

Written by Navy SEAL, David Goggins, Can’t Hurt Me is showing you the way to master self-discipline and understand what you’re truly capable of as an individual. We will be the first to say that David Goggins is one of the most intense individuals we’ve ever come across. Reading his book doesn’t advise you to take what he’s done as a sign to do the same but more so take the lessons that what you think you’re capable of doing, you’re capable of doing so much more.

The Power of Now

The Power of Now has been a best-seller in the motivation and inspiration genre for quite some time now and there’s a reason for that. This book is one where you need to be ready to read it in order to truly get the value from it. Personally, it took me attempting it a few times until I was able to actually sit down and allow it to open my eyes. The amount of life knowledge and advice in here is truly incredible and if you’re up for it, I can’t recommend it enough.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

And here comes another habits book (but with a different focus). In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, author Stephen R. Covey provides readers with big picture mindsets that we should try to adapt in our daily lives in order to improve ourselves and the life we live. It focuses on our own perceptions whether it’s around relationships, challenges, and day-to-day experiences to help us become, well, more effective.
