The 7 Best Places to Watch the Super Bowl in Calgary

On Sunday things are going to get exciting at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

Or just wherever you are.

In case you’ve been living in the dark, there’s a little thing we like to call THE SUPER BOWL taking place.

That’s right, performances by Frozen’s Idina Menzel and John Legend and a half-time show featuring Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz. Oh and the Seattle Seahawks will be playing New England Patriots.

So if you and your friends are currently strategizing on where to post up for the big game, here are 7 of the best options Calgary can provide.

W XYZ Bar
Located in Aloft Calgary at the U of C, this is probably one of the nicer places to watch the game. With $5 specials on all beers, you’ll feel like you’re winning – even if your team isn’t.

Schanks Sports Bar
With two locations in the city, this place is kind of the ultimate dude bar. It has everything a sports fan could ever want: you can throw a few strikes, play a little pool, or get in a round of mini-golf before all before you sit down to watch the Super Bowl on one of the many big screens.

The Pig and Duke
One of the best neighbourhood pubs in the Beltine area, this friendly bar will be hosting a party that includes an all you can eat hot dog throw down. For anyone living downtown, make sure you wear a jersey at least one size bigger.

The Palomino
Nothing says Super Bowl like a BBQ, and from 2pm onwards you can enjoy the city’s best brisket along with some great drink specials. The Palomino is probably the only bar in town hosting a live half time show.

Craft Beer Market
On Sunday you’re encouraged to come for brunch and stay on for the game. With over 100 beers at happy hour prices after 3pm as well as $8 appetizers, you can easily justify staying here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Unicorn
Sad but true, the Unicorn Pub will only be open until the summer, so get your fill of this spot before it’s too late. During the Super Bowl, you can enjoy a $10 hot dog buffet, lots of cool prizes, and $4 specials on Budweiser. Not to mention, the Unicorn makes some of the spiciest Caesars in town.

Below Deck Tavern
Known for its East Coast charm, this pub is already in game day spirit with a special menu of chili cheese dogs, pulled pork potato nachos, and double orders of hot wings. Football fans can take advantage of happy hour prices, prizes, and more this Sunday.
