The 12 Trees of Christmas at the Gardiner Museum is a Must See

You might not normally think to attend an exhibit of Christmas trees, because you can always just go home or visit your friends to see a fully decked out tree.

But, the Gardiner Museum (111 Queens Park) has taken the idea of tree decorating up a notch over the past 26 years, asking 12 of Toronto’s finest designers to decorate a tree based around their favourite neighbourhood in the city.

The result this year is 12 very different trees that celebrate the diversity of this place we’re all lucky enough to call home.

This year’s participating designers include Steven and Chris’ Steven Sabados & Chris Hyndman, who chose Leslieville; Pink Tartan’s Kimberley Newport-Mimran highlighting Mink Mile, Holt Renfrew’s Susanne Shaw taking on Downtown, Love It or List It’s Hilary Farr with GreekTown, Teatro Verde’s Shawn Gibson and Michael Pellegrino celebrating Yorkville, and more.

The exhibit will also be a part of the museum’s annual G Party happening on November 27th – their gala fundraiser, which is also in its 26th year. Along with access to the exhibit, the gala will feature local food from a la Carte Kitchen, Southbrook Vineyards wine, Mill Street Brewery beer, DJ Medley spinning tunes, and the 30 Under 30 ceramic auction, featuring work from the best up-and-coming artists under 30 in the city.

Another excuse to attend a fundraising gala in your best Christmas party wardrobe is never a bad thing. The bonus – you get to look at gorgeous trees and support Toronto artists in while you’re at it.

The signature exhibit is open now and runs at the museum until December 14th.
