Tequila Bookworm Owners Quietly Open New Restaurant The Four Seven

Tequila Bookworm has long been a staple of Queen West, occupying a space as a Cafe before it succumbed to the late night neighbourhood and transitioned into more of a bar by expanding the menu and extending their hours.

Its popularity has given the owners incentive to open a new shop in their own neighbourhood, Bloordale, and that’s where The Four Seven comes in.

When Ortolan closed after 3 years of bringing a restaurant scene to the once lacking area of Bloor West between Dufferin and Lansdowne, Tequila owners Jeff Caires and Andrew Usher took the opportunity to collaborate with its former chef, Daniel Usher, on a new restaurant.

Ortolan’s vibe was that of fine dining, but The Four Seven aims to bring in a more casual clientele with their gritty bar atmosphere similar to their Queen West bar décor.

Here you’ll find the same handwritten chalkboard list of bar items, and wall art by graffiti artist Jimmy Chiale.

The bar will highlight small-batch international and local beer, wine, classic cocktails and – again following in Tequila Bookworm’s rare ability to highlight great cider – will have one tap dedicated exclusively to Ontario ciders.

Their opening menu spotlights seafood – featuring Italian-style grilled squid and octopus – along with options for vegetarians such as chickpea flour crepes and Bulgarian fried cheese.

Located at 1211 Bloor St West, The Four Seven is now open and serving food from 6pm-2am daily, Tuesday through Sunday.
