Take a Barefoot Break Today for TOMS’ One Day Without Shoes

Whatever the weather in your city today (even in Toronto, where it’s cold and rainy), free your feet for bit for a good cause. Millions of people around the world will go without shoes and take a barefoot break for TOMS’ annual One Day Without Shoes event to raise awareness about children’s health, education and empowerment, and the millions of children around the world who live without proper footwear, exposing them to injury, infection and debilitating diseases.

Shoes help protect kids’ feet ,and when combined with school uniforms can help increase a child’s school attendance. When shoes are integrated into programs with larger community development goals, they empower children and their families to get the care and support they need. “It’s humbling to think that One Day Without Shoes started on a college campus seven years ago, and now we’re seeing participation from across the globe,” said TOMS’ Founder and chief shoe giver Blake Mycoskie.

It’s easy to support: just take a photo of yourself taking a barefoot break and share your photo via social media, tagging #withoutshoes and #TOMSCanada. Encourage your friends and coworkers to do the same, joining the millions of people around the world expected to take part today. Get creative and have fun with it; get a quick pedicure at lunch if you have to.

Of course, the beloved footwear brand, a warmer weather weekend staple for young professionals, centres on giving back.  TOMS is a One for One company, using business to improve lives. For every pair of TOMS shoes purchased, TOMS provides a new pair of new shoes to children in need. To date, TOMS has given over 10 million pairs of new shoes to children in need in 60 countries around the world.

After your barefoot break (or perhaps during), check out TOMS.ca for their new fun, bright shoes and shades for spring.
