Switch: Toronto’s Newest Resto Lounge Opening Soon

Renowned Toronto restaurateur and nightlife curator Hanif Harji is set to bring his magic touch to the twice doomed address of 55 Colborne Street. The former home of YP favourite The Bowery, followed by an even more short-lived occupancy by Osteria 55, will make way for Switch, a bar-lounge that’s sure to breath new life into the otherwise prime space.

Fresh of the highly successful Patria, and Weslodge shortly before that, Harji has a knack for combining the best in dining and social life with various venues across the city that work this fusion perfectly. Inspiration for the design of the space came from 1920s carnivals in Brooklyn; all art work was hand-drawn and gold-leafed by David Macdonald and Elan Marks, aged to feel like it has been abandoned for half a century.

Young professionals can expect a more casual atmosphere between 5pm and 10pm, during Munch and Sip where progressive bar fare will be served, and then take things up a notch until 2am as the space takes on more of a lounge feel. The lower level is referred to as the Rec Room, featuring vintage video games, a shag carpet, vintage and modern memorabilia, TVs and an open kitchen.

Switch will be hosting two grand opening parties, the first of which will be by invite only on Thursday, April 25 from 5 to 9pm. Another private party will take place the following night between 10pm and 2am. It will officially open to the public on May 2nd at 5pm, from Thursday to Saturday.

Looking to book a private event? Switch will be available for private booking from Sunday to Wednesday.
