Starbucks Canada to Begin Offering Beer, Wine, and Tapas

No, you don’t need another coffee just to read that right.

Your Starbucks barista is about to go full bartender.

According to The Star, Starbucks Canada president Rossann Williams has promised that an ‘evening menu’ full of beer, wine, and tapas (think: olives, cheese, nuts, and flatbreads) will be rolled out in Toronto – and then other large cities – by the end of 2015.

The idea here is that some 60 percent of Starbucks customers are women and the kind of women who “don’t necessarily like to hang out in bars with their friends.”

But presumably they still enjoy trading their ventis for vino when 5 o’clock rolls around.

Not simply limiting themselves to the late night game, Starbucks Canada is also looking into urban delivery, locally sourced food, and an aggressive development plan that will see 100 stores open every year for the next five years.

Still no word yet, however, on whether they’ll get your name right when you order.
