Starbucks and Tim Hortons Both Launch Pumpkin Spice Drinks Today

We’re still almost a full month away from the start of autumn, but that hasn’t stopped Canada’s two largest coffee houses from launching quintessential symbols of the season.

Starbucks’ legendary pumpkin spice lattes are now available across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. It is the 15th anniversary of the PSL. We suggest taking the news as a cue to spend less time on Instagram.

Formerly beloved Tim Hortons also launched its fall lineup today, headlined by its own version of the PSL. But that’s not the biggest announcement in fall drinks, for there is also a Pumpkin Spice Iced Capp. That’s #PSIC, for the record. And finally an answer to Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino.

Coming soon – a spice-y twist on a summer favourite!

“Tim Hortons Pumpkin Spice products have become a Fall tradition and we know how much our guests look forward to their arrival each year,” said Tim Hortons in a news release. “The iconic Iced Capp first launched in 1999 and over the last 19 years has quickly became one of our most popular cold beverages. This year, we wanted to surprise and delight Canadians with a fall twist on this summer favourite, the Pumpkin Spice Iced Capp.”

Surprised and delighted we are, indeed.

Lost amidst all the commotion is that Blenz, a Canadian coffee franchise with 63 locations in British Columbia and one in Calgary, actually released the season’s first PSL – yesterday, August 27th.

Because as someone somewhere probably once said, is fall really around the corner if PSLs aren’t yet on offer?
