Spring 2014 Trend: Florals for Everyone

After this gruelling winter, we are pleased to welcome a bright and blooming trend for both men and women this spring. Florals have been an ongoing yet efflorescent craze for fashionable women for years. Dior displayed a romantic but sporty take on the budding trend, Oscar de la Renta magnificently embroidered meadow flowers into his ball gowns, and Ruffian’s retro florals dominated the catwalk.

For an understated, work-appropriate look, coordinating a floral midi skirt with a white blouse is effortless. If you are feeling bold, try pairing one floral with another. From flowy skirts, to silky jumpsuits and light dresses, the trend will be sure to blossom into everyone’s closets this spring.

Men seem to be equally embracing florals, but this season they’re smoothing the transition between seasons by taking on a darker mood. With black backgrounds and richer colours, the typically feminine trend has beefed up for spring. Retro-inspired, Hawaiian-style prints were offered at Prada and St. Laurent and head-to-toe floral looks took over at Dries Van Noten and Gucci.

Want a casual and subtle take on the trend? Add sophistication to your mundane work wear by incorporating the print in the form of a tie, a pocket square or even peeking out at the ankles

With the endless variety of flowery offerings, retailers and designers and have made it painless to embrace this spring’s love affair with florals.
