Men’s and women’s fashion trends for Spring 2012 seem to be working in unison at times and acting as complete opposites others; we admit it can be quite confusing to makes sense of it as you start planning your wardrobes for the warmer weather. Fortunately we have done the work for you – heres a quick breakdown of the trends forecast ahead.
For women, our infatuation with neon slightly fades and we begin to see pastels and soft palettes filled with colours that remind us of fruity sorbet and ice cream. Just look at the Spring/Summer 2012 ad campaign by Louis Vuitton and you’ll get the hint. Now, this doesn’t mean were over bright and bold colours; this fall and winter trend will transition over to spring but it will be a bit more subtle, transforming into corals and shades of yellow. Prints return again and are the perfect pairing with all those mint hues and basic whites and blacks.
Menswear will still predominately bold brights across all aspects of the wardrobe. If you’re the daring type, make a statement and wear it head to toe; or take a more subtle approach, and mix it in with an eye-catching belt or bow tie. A boxier, loose-fitting style is something to take note of this Spring. This take on relatively casual tailoring is completely acceptable for both the office and social events; think plenty of cotton and linens. If colour’s not necessarily your thing, it’s safe to say you can also go neutral this season and still make a statement. Funny how that works – two trends in one season that are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum. A monotone neutral outfit, accented by bold accessories and flashes of colour, will be a classic hit in the sunny days.
