Six Great Cocktails and What They Say About You

If you thought that what you were sipping was staying silent – think again.

Every time you pour your drink of choice, it speaks louder than crushed ice. So if you’ve ever wondered what your cocktail is busy saying to the crowd, we’ve dissected six of our favourites for you to better understand just how your mix is mingling.

The Legacy: Manhattan
There’s a reason Canadian whisky didn’t stop flowing south after the prohibition was lifted, and you know why. You appreciate a fine drink with the finest ingredients, which obviously means including a little Canadian content in your favourite borough.  Chilled, garnished, or served straight up, this drink has style written all over it, and so do you whenever you’re drinking it.

– 2oz Canadian Club
– .75oz sweet vermouth
– 1 dash Angostura bitters
Optional garnishes: maraschino cherry, orange peel

The Anytime, Anywhere: Mudslide
You like your drink on the patio, on the beach, for lunch, or after dinner. And the Mudslide obliges. Every. Single. Time. This is about drinking something as cool and refreshing as you are. If you’re the life of the party, you should have a drink that says so. The Mudslide obliges.

– 1oz Baileys
– 1oz Moskovskaya Vodka
– 1oz coffee liqueur
Serve over ice or blended
Le Chic: Bellini
There are cocktails without champagne? Not in your world. You’re all class, all the time – and you have the bubbles to prove it. Whether accompanying a sophisticated brunch or providing a late afternoon pick-me-up, you stay chic and stylish with a flute full of deliciousness.

– 1oz Peachtree Schnapps
– 3oz dry Champagne
– 2oz peach nectar
– 1tsp (fresh) lemon juice
Add: crushed ice
The Canadian: Caesar
You know who you are and you know where you’re from, and that means you like a drink that bleeds as red as the Canadian flag. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you’re pretty sure the Caesar deserves its own Heritage Moment. You don’t simply enjoy this drink because it’s delicious; you see it as a part of your identity.

– 2oz Moskovskaya Vodka
– 8oz Clamato Juice
Add to taste: hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper
Optional garnishes: Celery, pickle, lime
The Vacation: Piña Colada
Listen up, ‘cause they don’t write #1 songs about just any cocktail. You know how we know you have half a brain – you drink Piña Coladas. This is like a vacation in a glass, which comes as no surprise considering it’s the official cocktail of Puerto Rico. You know you were born to live on a beach. This is simply your way of letting everyone know.

– 2oz Captain Morgan Black Rum
– 2oz Pineapple juice
– 1oz Coconut cream
Blend with ice
The Original: Tequila Mockingbird
You prefer to stand out from the crowd. But you prefer to do so with bite – hence the tequila base. Like you, this isn’t the type of drink anyone can fall in love with; it needs time and patience to be appreciated. (Of course, having a great name never hurt anyone.) This is a cocktail as original as the person ordering it.

– 1.5oz Tequila
– 1oz Stinger Premixx Mint Liqueur
– Juice from 1 full lime
Shake with ice and strain
