After blazing the initial trail last year by accepting Bitcoin donations, Simon Fraser University in British Columbia is now the first Canadian school to accept Bitcoin for textbooks and other school supplies. And soon, they also plan to have Bitcoin ATMs on campuses in Burnaby and Surrey.
Next stop: tuition.
The University of Nicosia in Cyprus, The University of Cumbria in The UK, and King’s College in New York are three accredited universities that have been accepting Bitcoin for tuition payments for over a year now.
