Ryan Reynolds has become the latest Hollywood fixture to bust into the booze business.
The 41-year-old Deadpool actor just purchased Portland-based Aviation Gin, one of our favourite craft gin brands (and, apparently, one of his too). He broke the news yesterday with a sexy photo on social media, where the hotter-than-ever actor casually posed with his arms around a couple of cases of the gin. “In the long and in no way disastrous marriage of showbiz and alcohol, so happy to announce I’m the proud owner of a gin company… @AviationGin,” he wrote in accompanying text. Reynolds won’t sit back and enjoy a more symbolic, gin-sipping role; according to the company, he will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the business.
“Ryan has worked tirelessly to create some of the world’s most iconic media properties and will bring that drive and creativity to sharing Aviation with the world,” said Andrew T. Chrisomalis, the chief executive of Aviation Gin’s parent company Davos Brands in a statement yesterday.

It was the smooth taste of Aviation gin that won over Reynolds, making us feel like we share a special bond with the actor, as Aviation was the official gin of last year’s Notable Awards and a decided crowd-pleaser. “Aviation is the best tasting gin in the world. Once I tried it, I knew I wanted to get involved with the company in a big way…If you think all gin tastes the same, you’d be mistaken. Aviation is in a completely different league and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the company,” said Reynolds to People magazine.
If you didn’t know what Aviation Gin was before, you certainly will now; the star power offered by Canada’s own Reynolds – who makes headlines on the regular thanks to his hilarious Instagram posts – will no doubt propel the growing brand into the public spotlight and result in a subsequent spike in sales. According to Fortune, the actor only tried the gin himself a year ago. The smooth gin can be sipped on its own, or incorporated into tasty cocktails. Every bottle of Aviation Gin is handcrafted in small 100-case batches at the House Spirits Distillery in Portland and distilled using a proprietary maceration process that produces a pure medley of botanical flavour.
Of course, Reynolds isn’t the first celeb to try his hand in the booze industry. After a few years-long stint as the co-owner of Casamigos tequila, George Clooney sold the company last year to Diageo Pic for a cool $700 million (nbd). Meanwhile, Sean “Diddy” Combs owns part of Ciroc vodka.
