Rumor Has It Dave Chappelle is Working on a New HBO Special

Between Chappelle’s Show, Killin’ Em Softly and For What It’s Worth, Dave Chappelle has elevated the world comedy game to highs we only imagined while watching Half-Baked.

But since his abrupt 2005 departure from his show and the US as a whole, we’ve been largely deprived of his genius, save a few random stand-up performances here and there and a somewhat tense headlining gig at the 2013 Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Festival.
But all that might be about to change.

After several fans tweeted about Chappelle “filming a television special” during his recent performance in Austin, “sources” are now saying that he is in fact taping a special to be aired on HBO.
There has been no title provided and no target dates leaked, but a few other news sources are starting to pick up the story and the rumors are looking legit. Especially with his packed spring schedule of stand-up shows throughout the southern states and a few shows in Detroit.

We won’t hold our breath on this, but knowing how funny this is bound to be, we can’t help but get excited. And if it ends up being true?

Pancakes on us, b****es.
