Rosewood Brings Burgers and Rock Music to Old Montreal

Joverse has a new neighbour. Restaurant/pub Rosewood is now going through their “soft opening” stage with the official grand opening happening on August 12th. Yes, that means you can still pop by from 5pm on to check the space and get a taste.

It’s owned by the minds behind of Joverse, including Julian Arbia, Michael J. Killam and Matthiew McKean, as well as musician and local celebrity Jonas, Dan Lima and Brendan Baxter.

“There’s no burger place in old Montreal – that’s our specialty – and no bars that focus on rock music,” Julian told us.

Indeed there isn’t, so Rosewood Executive Chef Matthiew McKean created a simple and accessible classic pub food menu with a twist, featuring exotic burgers such as the shrimp burger. Everything is organic and they also make their own sodas.

Hungry after hours? Rosewood offers amazing snacks and a special kosher, gluten-free hot dog that will make you drool.

The interior feels modern, rustic and organic all at once spread over two levels and was designed by Benoit Seguin aka DJ Bender from MOTIF with the help and realization from Atelier Mainor, who seem to be building quite an impressive resume with local restaurants and bars.

Here’s the cool part: Rosewood plans on hosting performances, concerts and special events on their stage, making it a destination on all fronts and not just a place to eat. In addition, they are the most technologically advanced bar in town. “We have USB plugs at the bar; we can control everything from our iPhones, even the front door lock,” shared Julian.

Located at 60 rue St-Jacques, Rosewood is open 7 days a week from 5pm on for now.

Rock on.
