ROM’s Friday Night Live Returns This Friday

The fun has returned to Friday nights.

Ok, fine, it never left. But at least we now have another no-fail option when it comes to closing out the workweek in style.

Friday Night Live returns to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) this Friday, October 10th. And the lineup is pretty hot.

If you’re still in the dark (really?), the Friday Night Live series is a weekly fusion of music, art, DJs, food, cocktails, and dinosaur bones. Oh, and a packed house of some of the city’s finest young professionals looking to let loose after a long workweek.

Beginning this week, #FNLROM will run every Friday until November 28, from 7pm to midnight. And we have a feeling its 6th season is going to be bigger and better than ever. Expect theme nights inspired by global fashion (surely resulting in some very Instagram-worthy outfits), Halloween (actually on Halloween night), heroes (we bet at least one dude will show up dressed as one), and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, among others.

The sounds of some of the hottest Canadian talent will echo through the sprawling venue, with names like The Darcys, Adrian X, Devin Cuddy Band, KC Roberts & the Live Revolution, Barbra Lica, Muhtadi and the World Drummers featuring Amara Kante, Shi Wisdom, and Mustafa the Poet all set to perform.

But it’s not just about the music and ancient artifacts.

Also making appearances this season are Canadian visual artists, designers, and theatrical veterans. This includes Sara AngelucciChinedu Ukabam, Jocelyn Tang, George Foster, The Second City, and Historica Canada. Plus, every #FNLROM guests can check out the Ford Lounge for an experience that promises to involve innovative technology, creativity, and culture.

The series kicks off on Friday with Thanks Canada – a salute to Canada’s homegrown culture with the ROM’s Brushing it in the Rough II exhibition. You can expect music from The Icicles, Ron Hawkins & The Do Good Assasins, Grady Kelneck, a live sketch comedy from The Second City, and Great Canadian Heritage Minutes from Historica Canada (because history lessons are best learned with a cocktail in hand).

We’ll see you there.
