Retail Therapy: The Livery Shop

In 1915 it probably made sense to see a barn in your neighborhood, but in 2015 this is definitely out of the ordinary – that’s part of the charm with Inglewood.

Situated on the same block as a military surplus store, several high-end design shops, a Harley Davidson outlet, and the popular restaurant The Nash, the red barn is just another interesting element that’s now home to The Livery Shop, a place that is sure to become one of your new favourite shopping destinations.

Previously used as the set for the show Canadian Pickers, 1130 10th Ave SE has been converted into a charming retail space with an interior looks like a page straight out of Kinfolk Magazine.

In late 2014, two well-known Calgary brands, CoutuKitsch and CAMP Brand Goods, decided to take over the antiquated structure for the purpose of creating studio space, but that soon evolved into opening the front to showcase retail.

So, what can you expect to find at The Livery Shop?
Inside the barn walls you’ll find a fine mix of inventory that, for the most part, can be used interchangeably for urban living and the great outdoors.

As you might expect, this is where you can pick up your CAMP gear, including their popular printed tees and heavy cotton sweatshirts.

CoutuKitsch’s jewelry collection is also on display here. This line-up might not be practical for sporting on a camping trip, but these pieces are definite conversation starters that will make any outfit more stylish.
Beyond their own collections, the owners have also brought in a few delicious goods from other city suppliers, like Cafe Rosso coffee and Fiasco Gelato marshmallows (the mini-egg marshmallows are highly recommended).
Whether you’re in need of a homemade gin kit, natural soaps, camp-scented incense or simply feel like a good window-shopping session, grab a coffee from one of the nearby shops and stroll over to the barn.

Just don’t expect to leave empty-handed.
