Just Opened: Le Bremner

After a soft-opening on July 5th for staff and VIP clients, Le Bremner opened their doors to the public just last Wednesday. This new restaurant from the folks who brought us famed Garde-Manger – you’ve heard of Chuck Hughes, right? – is quickly becoming Montreal’s newest hotspot.

When the opening of Le Bremner was first announced, it was described as “kind of a seafood diner,” but it is already proving to be much more than that. Located at 361 St. Paul East in Old Port, Le Bremner is gaining rave reviews from foodists and discerning diners alike, noting its delicious take on seafood. Meals such as Raw Striped Bass with pickled radish, Kimchee Snow Crab with Crispy Rice Cake, and the knockout Lobster Parfait are already being talked about as some of Montreal’s best takes on comfort seafood with an edge.

Food Network personality Chuck Hughes, the public face of Garde-Manger, has imagined a menu quite different from Garde, but in an atmosphere that is just as cool and hip. Hughes, best known for his show Chuck’s Day Off, is adored by food-obsessed Montrealers who have grown to love his haute comfort food and relaxed approach to upscale dining.

Fans of Hughes’ will certainly not be disappointed by his latest undertaking, as he has managed to imbue Le Bremner with a sense of his own personality. While somewhat secluded, the resto plays excellent music in keeping with Hughes’ own preferences and boasts a stellar wine selection.

If you’re planning on heading out to Le Bremner, keep your eyes open: Like Garde, the new restaurant has no obvious signage and is marked by a generic “restaurant” sign. For reservations or more information, call 514-544-0446.
