The Real Talk Series Returns for a ‘Real’ Discussion About Food

It’s time to get real about really good food.

That’s why yours truly and First Canadian Place have teamed up once again to bring you the return of the must-attend “Real Talk” speaker series on Thursday, May 5.

For those in the dark, the series features a variety of topics that all aim to bring together both some of the city’s seasoned and up-and-coming young professionals (YPs). The resulting forum offers an opportunity to learn from leaders in different industries.

And this time around we’re diving into something that affects our every day lives: food.

More specifically, the discussion will centre on the Good Food Revolution. This includes everything from clean eating, eating locally and sustainably, to food equality (giving all Canadians access to good food and the knowledge necessary to make healthy food choices).

The evening begins at 5:30pm, when you’ll have the chance to mix, mingle, and talk shop with like-minded YPs over hors d’oeuvres and wine (so bring those business cards). The 45-minute speaking period will begin at 6pm.

You may already be familiar with the speakers. They include Alan Bekerman, CEO and founder of the quick favourite go-to health spot IQ Food Co., the fast-casual restaurant brand with sustainable food at its core. Also offering his seasoned insight is best-selling author Nick Saul, President & CEO, Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC), a national organization that builds vibrant, food-focused community centres in low-income neighbourhoods.

TV and radio host, producer, actress, and writer (and hilarious social media story sharer) Pay Chen (The Pay Chen show) will moderate the talk (and anyone who knows her knows that Pay is as real as it gets).

Like always, an audience Q&A will follow the panel discussion.

Naturally, tickets are limited, so get yours now. You don’t want to miss this chance to meet, mingle, and learn from some of the best minds in the business.
